Here’s to a new chapter of HAS awesome-ness!

inspired by: in the make.

In the Make is an amazing project featuring behind-the-scenes looks at West Coast artists in their studios. It was started in early 2011 by photographer Klea McKenna and writer Nikki Grattan. I’m always so excited by the wide variety of artists they feature – some fairly known and others not (yet!). Some recent studio visits include artist Jesse Houlding, sculptor Mark Baugh-Sasaki, printmaker Tom Killion, and today it was painter Maja Ruznic! I seriously never get sick of the opportunity to see what someone’s personal art space looks like or hear their unique story. Do you like this kind of thing too?

I wanted to share with you this wonderful video interview by In the Make (their first one ever!) with Maja Ruznic…

weekend tidbits.

Happy weekend! It’s been a crazy week… so much so that I forgot to blog the last couple of days. I’m in full blown shop preparation mode – painting and sewing and crocheting and designing, and I’m excited to say that I am aiming for a November 1st launch date for the shop! I’m also finishing up on an entire web site design overhaul (due to be live next week!), taking care of a very sick kitty, working on a few client projects, and completely remodeling our living room (no more carpet, yay!). So, what I really mean to say is, I’m frantically working behind the scenes over here and posting may be a bit spotty for a short while!

>> Hope you have a ton of fun this weekend and I’m super excited to reveal everything I’ve been working so hard on very, very soon!

the art of rug-making.

I’ve been enamored with Sonya Winner’s rug designs for quite some time. In fact, I included her gorgeous work in this old school wish list a while back. Her rugs are so colorful, so unique, and basically like art for your floor… that you can walk on… although honestly I’d be scared to! I just received my monthly update of Sonya’s newsletter which included a wonderful behind the scenes photo series of the development process of one of her famous designs, the Bubble Outline rug, as featured on Design Milk, and I found it so fascinating that I thought I would share it with you. So much quality care goes into each rug, and starting at around $2,400+ a pop at its smallest size, I suppose I wouldn’t expect anything less!

introducing… the roost tribe!

Bonnie Christine is an illustrating, designing, pattern making, crafting, and home styling mastermind. I stumbled across her beautiful blog, Going Home to Roost, only a few months ago and it quickly became one of my favorites. She has come up with the ingenious idea to create all kind of amazing custom content such as free backgrounds, gift tag & card printables, desktop backgrounds, helpful information for artists & designers, tutorials, blogging resources and so much more, and then she sends it out to members for only $5.00 a month. These members are apart of the Roost Tribe, and so am I! I can’t recommend it enough. Each month you get:

And by the way, all of the graphics you see above were created by Bonnie as well! And have you seen her shop? I am always so excited and happy to check my e-mail on Fridays because that’s when the e-mails are sent out and I’m always taken aback by Bonnie’s amazing designs. I feel so special to be apart of this and I have to say… it’s definitely worth way more than $5.00 and absolutely worth giving up one trip for coffee a month. Here’s another example of a very small portion of what we got last month:
